After transferring to Mansfield University in Mansfield Pennsylvania and numerous room changes the first week of school (had 3 different rooms with in the first week, housing department really screwed up) I finally got settled into a mini single (just a bit smaller than a normal dorm room). Shortly after, I became a member of a national music fraternity – PHI MU ALPHA Sinfonia. Living in Pinecrest (dorm closest to campus) and being a member of one of the largest fraternity’s on campus my floor (and dorm) was very popular. A college RA of mine said that there were always people whether it be fraternity brothers or friends coming and going from my dorm room. He said he would count them like sheep (he probably thought sheep because of the urban legends of fraternities and sheep) jumping over a fence to help him sleep. He would refer to my room as “Taco’s Sheep Shack.” (Taco is my fraternity nickname). The name stuck and through out college, wherever I lived my room was always called “Taco’s Sheep Shack.” We (I say we because of my roommates) had a slogan and everything – “We take shacking up Sheep seriously.” No joke, we even had a website!
Times have changed and Taco’s Sheep Shack no longer exists. Today, 2007, it is only known as – The Sheep Shack.
